Privacy policy

This policy explains what Gaffer Notes collects and why. We process data to run accounts, subscriptions, and the public website. The site is operated by Andrew Newhouse, 9 Gisburn Grove, Burnley BB10 4NW. Contact: info@gaffernotes.com.

Data we collect

Account: name (optional), email, password hash, age confirmation / date of birth if you provide it, marketing opt-in, referral code. Usage: comments you post, staking-journal entries you add, and basic server logs (IP, user agent, time) for security. Billing: Stripe customer and subscription IDs. We do not store full card numbers — Stripe processes payments.

Why we use it

To create and secure your login, deliver paid content, send password-reset and service emails, prevent abuse, improve the product, and meet legal obligations. Marketing email is sent only if you opt in.

Processors

We use subprocessors such as Stripe (payments), our hosting provider (site and database), and optionally AI / sports-data / search APIs to generate tips. Those providers see only what is needed to perform their service.

Cookies

We use a session cookie (footytips_sess) so you stay signed in. It is HTTP-only. We do not use advertising pixels on the core pages.

Retention and rights

We keep account and billing identifiers while the account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for tax, dispute, and security records. Depending on where you live (including the UK GDPR), you may ask to access, correct, or delete personal data, or object to certain processing. Email info@gaffernotes.com from the address on your account.

Children

The service is for adults 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
